Pearl has been an innovator in instrument making for more than 50 years and the results can be seen in the artist flutes made by Pearl and other companies who have embraced Pearl's innovations. Arguably the best value in the flute world, Pearl flute are often compared with instruments costing several times its price. You get the same innovative construction and hand-finishing that you expect from Pearl, but at a price that even a beginner can afford. This is a flute that allows you to grow as a musician.
This flute is crafted from the finest nickel silver key stock and tubing and from precision-drawn sterling silver tubing. The innovative construction on this flute includes Pinless Construction and One-Piece Core-Bar.
Pinless Construction: Traditional flute construction, using pinning needles, weakens the key shafts by requiring that holes be drilled in them to connect the parts of the key mechanism that work together. In addition, these protruding needles can snag clothing and give easy entry to perspiration and body acids that cause corrosion and binding keys. Pearl's unique pinless construction eliminates these problems with additional bridge mechanisms that add strength to the entire mechanism and with socket-head screws that are inserted from the underside of the key work, preventing the entry of perspiration into the mechanism.
One-Piece Core-Bar: Most flutists have had the experience of having the rode that secures the high C key back out causing excessive play at the Bb key. Additionally, the flute mechanism will tend to wear excessively at the king post, next to the F# key. The Pearl one-piece core-bar eliminates the possibility of this problem by designing one rod that extends from the high C through the king post, forming a stainless steel bearing for the shaft of the keys for the right hand. The result is a more reliable mechanism that feels better and is easier to keep in adjustment and to service.
This flute's keys are Open Hole. Open hole keys give the flutist more control while playing.
This flute also comes with plugs that are used for the open hole keys. The
advantage of this flute is that when used by a beginner, the open holes can be
plugged (using the plugs provided). The flute is then used just like a
closed hole flute, making it easier for beginner to learn. As the flute
student masters the playing skill, the plugs can be easily removed. The
flute is then a open hole flute, allowing more flexibility and greater control
over the flute.
