The Lesson Books are at the core of the Basic Piano Course and should be used as the basic instructional tutor for all students. To ensure problem-free progress throughout the course, and to avoid gaps that might impede progress, the authors have used "overlapping concepts." This means that after a concept has been introduced, it continues to be reinforced simultaneously with the introduction of new concepts. Use the Lesson Books in conjunction with the other core subject books, Theory Books and Recital Books, plus any supplemental books you feel will enhance your students' experiences at the piano. Recordings are available for the Lesson Books featured in Alfred's Basic Piano Course and include both full piano recordings and orchestrated background accompaniments. The use of these recordings will aid students in choosing appropriate tempos and playing correct rhythms from the very beginning. In addition, the recordings reinforce the important concepts that constitute good musicianship. They may be used in the lesson as a "reward" for learning the piece, or at home to encourage practice. In addition, there are fine piano solo recordings of the Repertoire Books, Duet Books and the Ear Training Books. |
